Tesco 0% charge card not allowing Barclaycard balance transfers

I wondered if anyone else had come across this whilst applying for the new 0% charge balance transfers? I have discovered this whilst applying. Are barclaycard the people now running the Tesco Credit card? Thanks

Hi,

I have just this minute finished applying online for the Tesco card and did a transfer from my Barclaycard and Virgin card. Both went through without an issue.

I saw your post before applying so rang Tesco to confirm Barclaycard is ok, they said it's fine.

They also confirmed they use to be run by RBS but are now their own bank.

What sort of Barclaycard is it? This sort of thing tends to happen when they start using a new BIN number. It was happening with the Egg replacement cards in 2011.

I applied this lunchtime and tried to make a balance transfer from my Barclaycard and I got an error saying the card number was wrong. It was one which was converted from Egg.

I was prepared to blame Tesco, but if it's still happening with the ex-Egg cards after 2 years, it looks like Barclaycard are doing it on purpose, same as Vanquis do.

I am having problems doing a balance transfer from Santander onto a tesco card. Tesco said it is because Santander don't recognise tesco as a real bank so keep refusing the payment.

But Tesco just uses HSBC doesn't it?

Oh no, I was hoping to do the same thing & transfer from my Barclaycard to Tesco. I should be able to pay the debt off within 12 months & save myself around £125 in interest charges to boot

My Balance is on the Platinum Visa card, I do have an old Egg card transferred over to them but that is my daily spend cashback card, do you guys think it will transfer ok?

Just came across this thread, I opened a tesco credit card a couple of weeks ago. I have transferred balances from Barclaycard and Virgin to tesco on Monday this week and was all done by wednesday.

In Tescos terms it does say they will not approve a balance transfer until the card is received and activiated. I tried to do the transfer when the account was showing as active online but the physical card not activiated and Tesco would not approve the transfer.

I filled in the application today & got an immediate acceptance with a good credit level.

Put my Barclaycard Platinum Visa details in and didn't say there was an issue Thats £150 saved this year
