Family hotels for overnight and good places for stops between Calais and S France?

Hello
We are driving (gulp) down to the South of France in the summer with the 3 kids. Any suggestions for good places to stay? We were thinking around the Orleans region, as midway.
Foruma1 hotels appear not to be ensuite, and Novotel say we have to take 2 rooms, as does ibis, which really ramps up cost.
Would prefer a city centre ish location.
Also - to break the drive any recommendations on where to break the journey?
Thanks so much

Depending on where you're going to and - I guess - where you started, Orleans will leave a very long drive South the following day.
My choice would have been somewhere like Lyon or Limoges
anyway, this site any good to you?

Thanks - will have a look at that - thankfully we're only going to the Lot so Orleans about 4.5/5 hours to our destination. Will look at the room for 5 though
