Private water/sewage pipe and pump

Hi there,
I am looking to purchase a property and the survey has come back to say the property is connected to mains sewage via a private pipe and pump.
Looking into it more deeply we have discovered the property was once on a septic tank.
My question is that the information we've been given state that we will be responsible for maintaining the pipe and pump until it is adopted by the water company in a few years.
Does anyone have any experience/knowledge about what is involved in maintaining the pipe/pump? Is it a case of simply having someone (not sure who) to come service the pump annually?
Any advice most welcome.
TT

I don't think your pumping station will transfer. This only applies to PSs on pipework which was adopted in the private sewer adoption - which only includes pipes that serve more than one property or are outside the land of the property served.
For maintenance I'd just look on yell.com for local contractors and get some prices.0 -
Where does the pipe run? Under the garden = easy to dig up if there's any issues. Under the house = nightmare. They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0

Why not discuss with the seller?
But a pipe is unlikely to be an issue(though see strapped's Q above).
Check the pump though. How old? How does it work? Does it need servicing periodically? Has it been serviced?
Pretty common sense Qs really.0
