Hi
I have just found a Heron Foods a few miles away and as I've recently started a low carb diet I need to stock up on meat.
Can anyone tell me if they are cheap for chicken, mince beef and fish?
Many thanks

I know they do cheap misshaped bacon, and lots of breaded cheap fish. And they do frozen mince but not sure of the price. Frozen veg usually in 750g packets (even some 980g !!) so you would need the kg price but think similar to Lidl. They take coupons, i know for sure Clover and Kingsmill.0

They are doing gammon joints in the chiller that are very nice. They always have Youngs fish products at a good price and the Excell branded fish is cheap and worth trying.0

It's been a while since I've been in a herons, but I'm guessing they're of similiar price to Fultons foods which is much cheaper for packets of things like chicken and mince.
Just remember if you're low carbing that you should avoid breaded fish and chicken.
It might also be useful to know that cauliflower is a great sub for most things you can't have when eating low carb, for example using it in place of mashed potato, using it to make pizza crust, etcetc. Have a google! I make a mean low carb cauliflower pizza! Yum.:eek:0 -

I love our local shops, about a 10 minute walk away, we have Herons, b&m, greggs, 2 butchers, 2 fruit and veg shops, lots of other little shops, the only downside is we don't have a good supermarket close by, just the co-op which is very expensive.0

Don't really need a supermarket with all that! Get food from butchers/greengrocers and other bits from the rest
Where do you live? I want to live there0 -
I know, don't get me wrong, I use these shops everyday, call there on my way home from work. It's only when I have coupons to use, I have to travel a bit to get to the supermarkets to use them. From North East.0

Do you live in Houghton le Spring, you seem to have just described it there!0 -
Just seen Lurpack spreadable tubs in my local heron for £1. These were the bigger packs and had a july date but I am sure they are fine for freezing. HTH0
