What second hand items have you found sell well on ebay?

I thought it would be interesting to see what items we have maybe either had for years, inherited or bought for a bargain and then not wanted but then managed to sell on ebay for a decent profit. Often these may be items we thought would not fetch much but we have been surprised at when they have sold well. It would also be good and beneficial to us all to have a list of second hand things we could all look out for that sell well such as say vintage or retro items. I have sold a couple of genuine vintage brooches and made a decent profit and also some very old books.

My list (in ascending order of surprise) :D

3: Used Cosmetics: I did this to prove a point to my wife that she could sell anything on ebay if she put her mind to it. So I listed a half used bottle of her Dior foundation (RRP: £25)and an 80% full a bottle of perfume she had which gave her a headache (RRP: £30.00).
The foundation sold for £8.50 with £2 shipping, and the perfume went for £14 with £9.00 shipping to Italy! Both had over 10 watchers when they closed.

2: Used bicycle parts. I sold a used original Flite Titanium bicycle saddle which cost me £36 new 8 years earlier which started at 1p and closed at £44.50. I then realised my brother had the same saddle but in better condition sitting in a cupboard and sold his for him which went for £52! I've recently sold old oily bike chains for £9, and a 10 year old, dirty and worn rear derailleur (Original RRP: £33) for £26 plus £3.95 postage.:)

1: Broken things. Broken computer motherboard and processor £44, broken graphics card £30, broken XBox 360 £14 with £29 shipping to spain!!!!), and a broken PC power supply, £22!

"Upcycled" items - a coat of Farrow & Ball paint will sell anything ;-)

I have thought of collecting up all my used carrier bags and selling them to countries with punitive 10p taxes per carrier bag.

    Does that include Wales? ;)

I don't know to be honest, but if the Welsh can send me my prescriptions, in return for free carrier bags, that would be great. ;)

Definitely. I want to buy a new deraillieur. But after checking sale prices on ebay, have decided that it's simply not worth it and I should buy a new one. Starter bicycles seem to sell well on ebay. Quite a lot of them seem to sell for a significant proportion of the new price, e.g. £250 on ebay for a B'Twin Triban 3 is not an unusual price. (£299 new).

I think I escaped as they both fell into the:
Lotions, perfumes, and body washes, as long as they don't have an applicator that comes into contact with the body:.. category.

Plus it was about 6 years ago so who knows what the rules were then.
(I appreciated the ointment pun though):D

That reminds me of another, sold a knackered (and honestly listed as such) Deore LX chainset (best online price NEW:£85) for £77.00. Surprised came a far second to utter confusion! Buyer was absolutely delighted!:D
