so difficult -for the rides ,alton towers but AT hasnt got the blackpool lights, a bedazzle nightlife, shops ,rock, tower, kiss me quick ,british holiday feel . Its a theme park with little to do after or around (someones going to shoot me down.) yes you have to pay to walk around most of the day and go on a few rides

Both theme parks are very good, Blackpool is cheaper and quieter but Alton Towers has more of the wow factor (unless your a big Spongebob or Dora the Explorer Fan).

You could spend 1 day or a few days in either park depending on what you want to do and when you go (queues for Alton Towers latest ride can hit 3 hours).

Cost: Blackpool is defiantly cheaper as it will only cost £6 entry for none riders and around £17/£25 for an unlimited ride wristband depending on the option chosen and wheather you book in advance or not. Alton Towers with discount vouchers or booking in advance is around £25 each (regardless if you go on the rides or not). You can usually get a 2nd consecutive day ticket for Alton Towers for around £5-£8 each and there would are multi day or multi attraction Blackpool tickets available.

Rides: Alton towers has a great selection of rides and attractions to keep everybody from babies to adults entertained. It also has some of the biggest and most famous rides in the UK. Blackpool again has great rides for all the family and Nickelodeon Land is great for tots to tweens. With the exception of Pepsi Max, Blackpool hasn't got the best gimmicky/adrenalin inducing rides as Alton Towers but does have the best Rollcoasters in the UK.

Time: I visit Blackpool every August and don't have any big problems with queues, if you wit more than an hour for a ride, you have had a bad day. With Alton Towers, depending when you go queues could be anything from 10 minutes to 2 hours+, average queue times though are generally 1 hour plus for the bigger rides at peak times. You can buy fast track/queue saving tickets at both parks.
