Hi All,
I'm going on holiday with my husband and 20 month old son to Ilfracombe, Devon at the start of May. Does anyone know of any good places to visit (that do not cost too much if pos) and also any good value places to eat. Any help or info would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Can't offer too much specific advice because I've only been nearby. Barnstaple certainly has pubs and restaurants if you need something, though it's not a terribly interesting place. I think the thing I enjoyed about that area most is the scenery. There are some gorgeous views if you just drive around. The only other thing you might be able to set up is a trip to lundy island from barnstaple.

Hi,
I have just returned from Ilfracombe. I stayed at Watermouth Lodges which is about three miles out of Ilfracombe and situated behind Watermouth Castle. The Lodges have a lovely restaurant which is child friendly and is very reasonable. The Castle has a small theme park/gardens. You pay entry on the first day and all subsequent days are £1 entry.
In Ilfracombe the only place we ate was Mr Harris`s Tea Room which was very good. The best part of Ilfracombe is the promenade which is very nice.
As for beaches Woollacombe is the best.
Hope this helps.

I went to Ilfracombe for a weekend last year.
The nicest part is right down by the sea - there is a car park and some nice shops including one selling home-made fudge! The main part of the town is nothing special really; though it was out of seaon when we were there.
Don't bother going to the Tunnels Beaches in Ilfracombe - they charge to to go in an its just a short tunnel through the rocks leading to a coupe of small rocky beaches.
As a previous post said the nicest beach in the area is in Woolacombe and there's a shop there selling really nice pasties.
Have a nice time!0 -
Just wanted to say that thanks to your tips I've had a lovely holiday in Ilfracombe. I ended up going to Woolacombe and tried out the pasties (very nice!). The fudge shop in Ilfracombe was lovely as well (my OH ended up eating loads...).
Cheers to all who posted.A woman is like a tea bag. You never know how strong she is until she gets into hot water.:D0
