LLoyds TSB Final Outcome Letter

Hi there - hope you can please help. I wrote to TSB last July who confirmed I had PPI on a credit card since 1989 and they advised not mis-sold. I provided further evidence in Jan this year and chased them for months for a response only to be told on a weekly basis that the payment section were working really hard on the calculation. I then received a letter in May to advise that I had cancelled the Policy within 30 days and therefore never paid any premiums. I find this really odd as I didnt know I had PPI in the first place. In addition, my mum also had PPI on a loan that she did not know about and she has been sent a similar letter saying PPI was mis-sold but she cancelled within 30 days. Can anyone advise if they have had similar experiences? Is this a tactic of TSB trying to fob us off in the hope we will go away? also should I fight with TSB or go to Ombudsman. Any help would be gr8. Thx

You can only progress any complaint now if you have proof that you paid this PPI and that the Bank are somehow wrong.
What "additional evidence" did you send them in January?0 -
Lloyds have been very naughty rejecting claims hoping customers will not pursue, keep on with this and make them look at the claim correctly.

Hi thanks for your replies - I provided evidence of sickness pay for 1 year, benefits in death and pre-existing medical conditions. The outcome letter took nearly 5 months. In Jan I also asked them to cancel the PPI on my credit card and they verbally advised this had been done!!! I contacted them by e-mail on 29th May and they apologied for delay in outcome and offered £100 compensation and advised chq would be in the post. I then received final outcome letter dated 20th May advising I have not paid any PPI. I have not received chq either to date. Either there is a communication breakdown at TSB or they are backdating letters!! Dont know where to go now0

Hi - none of my statements physically show PPI as a payment - there is a paragraph which mentions PPI on the front and when I queried this paragraph, TSB told me it was standard on all statements regardless of whether you have PPI or not. It was TSB who advised me I had PPI on the cards when I wrote to query it initially. Also since 1989 my credit card numbers have changed yet they quote the 4 different card numbers on their letters - I find it all a bit strange to tell me I have PPI on 4 credit cards initially and now tell me I never paid any in the first place. I feel they are ducking and diving to get out of paying what could potentially be a large sum of money. Should I put all the info down in a letter to them?0

There's not much point writing to them to complain you had PPI when you actually didn't.
If none of your statements with an outstanding balance show a PPI payment, then you weren't paying it, and your complaint is fraud.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -

Yes, if the Bank mistakenly told the OP that they had PPI and then subsequently corrected their error then this is hardly grounds for complaint.
The "large sum of money" is just a pipe dream which will never be returned to "manic mo" because they never paid it in the first place.0 -

Actually, its very common. For example, people that clear the balance every month will not pay any PPI premiums. Yet they could have PPI set up on the account.I feel they are ducking and diving to get out of paying what could potentially be a large sum of money. Where do you get this potentially large sum from? How much did you pay as it appears at the moment you didnt pay a penny from your posts. This is what I would have suggested too but I find it interesting that apart from a thanks by the OP, this point which you make amershall, which again, I must stress, has also been mentioned by Martin Lewis in that article in the link has gone unanswered, disregarded and all there seems to be coming from the regulars here (no names need to be mentioned) is negative responses that are likely to deflate the OP from making any further efforts, if I didn't know better I'd swear they were being paid by banks to put people off of making claims on here.0 -
The OP is free to continue to correspond with the Bank. I can't see any point in encouraging her in obviously futile "further efforts".
