Redress claims

Hi there, a few years ago I was contacted by redress claims promising me to refund my ppi, which they did but I had to pay them £650 on the credit card on which they would get me the balance of the card repaid. I was a little sceptical about this but due to the fact the were handling the ppi I felt I had to oblige, before paying them I checked out the ministry of justice website, all seemed ok and carried on with the payment. All was well and received money back from my ppi, but as for the balance settlement I then had to pay a £150 for a barrister to now handle the settlement, after five or six months I received a letter saying that the settlement was unsuccessful and it was now redress claims position to refund my original payment, when I tried to call them I couldn't get any joy. Further emails were sent but no joy. Now I have learnt that redress claims are now suspended from trading, this has taken 2 years to get to this situation and now I'm concerned that I may never see any payment now, not sure what to do next, any advice....?

You sound very confused. Your barrister should be able to shed more light than we can here...0

A PPI complaint does not get your card balance repaid. That is a totally different scam some CMCs had for a period. All was well and received money back from my ppi, but as for the balance settlement I then had to pay a £150 for a barrister to now handle the settlement, after five or six months I received a letter saying that the settlement was unsuccessful and it was now redress claims position to refund my original payment
The follows the usual path of the scam. Initially take some money from you and then come back for a bit more later after giving you some false hope....Now I have learnt that redress claims are now suspended from trading, this has taken 2 years to get to this situation and now I'm concerned that I may never see any payment now, not sure what to do next, any advice....?
.....and that is the final stage that you usually see in this scam. The company close down, usually with no assets to repay your money.
Basically, you have been scammed. Normally, you could put in a section 75 refund request against the credit card. However, as you were paying a company to try and get the credit card debt written off and added to the debt to do so, that could be considered fraud. So, you may not succeed. You can ask but don't be shocked if they say no.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
