TPFT or comp car insurance/avoid Esure too

Hiya

I am renewing my car ins in May, looking at fully comp policies and TPFT. My car is only worth about £300.
I also have made 2 claims in past year and Esure have DOUBLED my car insurance to over £900. Direct Line etc have quoted about £500, where as Noriwch Union have quoted £300 for Third Party Fire and Theft.

What do you think?

Cheers

Go for TPTF as your car is worth very little. Have you try https://www.confused.com for an insurance quote?

I have looked at confused.com after looking at Martins Article. The cheapest was Diamond at £450 for fully comp but to pay monthly they were charging 20% interest. Norwich Union I can pay over 4 months with only 6% admin fee.

    THanks

I'm not surprised esure have doubled your premium if you make 2 claims in a year. They clearly view you as a poor risk.

To be honest, I don't think I'd want to insure you either on the basis of that experience!

They all price their risks individually. Go with whoever you prefer and whoever gives you the best deal (not that you needed me to say that!)
  • Sorry, but if your car's only worth three hundred quid, why are you looking at fully comp? In fact, surely just third party cover would suffice (do they still do that?). If it gets nicked etc, you would be lucky to get your bus fare home as an insurance payout, minus your excess, minus your premium....have you tried a broker? Sometimes they can prove to be the best option.

As someone else pointed out the advantage of Full comp on other post on here, with norwich Union fully comp with £1000 excess is cheaper than their third party fire and theif policy.
