switching suppliers but possible faulty meter

We are in the process of switching from British gas to Scottish power as our last bill was over £600 for just over 2 months, this was the first actual reading since we moved in.

We have now had a second bill actual reading Feb to June for nearly £280.00 this works out to 57.7 KW hours per day.
We have had no heating on since the £600.00 bill and hot water is on timer for 3 hours a day, so only other gas use is cooking.

We called British gas to see if they can check our meter as we can't work out how we can be using this much gas.
They want to charge us £60 for a visit and cant fit it in before we move away on the 27th June.

If we move away before checking the meter and it turns out to have been faulty can we claim anything back from British Gas?

Can we get the meter checked for free/ cheaper?

no supplier will do it free, unless faulty. Hot water for 3 hours aday could be your course
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
