Mosquitos in Malta

Are there a lot of Mosquitos around in Malta during June and July. Do we need to take loads of repellent.

We went on holiday to Malta last year and the Mosquitos were a pest. We found them especially trousesome in the evening whilst sitting in a bar where cthey attacked our legs. It was hot and we were wearing shorts, my wifr worn trousers in the end to give her csome protection. We recommend taking the repellent containing zeet and spraying your legs before going out at night. It also worked perfectly. The Malta Mosquitos are the Tiger type. Horrible

Never had so many bites in my life. That was in June. Like Martin says sitting in the bars at night was awful for mossies.

I've been bitten really badly in Malta and Gozo - bites the size of side plates.

The only repellent that worked for me was one I bought from a little pharmacy on Gozo, where I was staying. I don't know what it was (label was in Maltese) but I'd recommend you ask a pharmacist on Malta what THEY would recommend.

we had two weeks in gozo in early august and had no probs at all with mozzis, not sure if being slightly later in the year changed anything

Just back yesterday, we weren't bothered by them at all. Have been twice before in June. We didn't take repellent with us as we couldn't remember any bites on previous trips.
