Relatively Inexpensive Wood Flooring for Development?

I need to start looking for wooden flooring for a development and I think I need about 70 square metres!
DH has found some solid oak flooring in Howdens at about £18psm + VAT which looks okay but I'm wondering if I can get anything better looking?
What is engineered flooring like? DH doesn't want to use it but I really want maximum impact for the cheapest price!
We really need it 'finished' because I won some really lovely stuff in a competition a couple of years ago that wasn't finished and you should have seen the pigs ear he made of that
Can anyone help?

IMHO, engineered boards can look just as good as solid and they are less liable to warping. Go to a specialist flooring shop and view floors which have been laid. You get what you pay for and not all solid board are the same quality.
