Relatively Inexpensive Wood Flooring for Development?

Options
I need to start looking for wooden flooring for a development and I think I need about 70 square metres!

DH has found some solid oak flooring in Howdens at about £18psm + VAT which looks okay but I'm wondering if I can get anything better looking?

What is engineered flooring like? DH doesn't want to use it but I really want maximum impact for the cheapest price!

We really need it 'finished' because I won some really lovely stuff in a competition a couple of years ago that wasn't finished and you should have seen the pigs ear he made of that :o

Can anyone help?

IMHO, engineered boards can look just as good as solid and they are less liable to warping. Go to a specialist flooring shop and view floors which have been laid. You get what you pay for and not all solid board are the same quality. A good fitter is essential, shoddy workmanship will look .......... shoddy
