Either double sided tape, or if we're making a special one for someone we sew down the crease, makes it look really nice but takes a bit more time. We use gold or silver thread.

A swipe of stick glue on the left side of the fold so that when the card is opened the insert opens too.

Stick glue dries up and will let go of anything you've glued with it, however it is useful in that if you use double sided tape or sticky pads then a coating of stick glue gives you a little 'slideability' while you are placing your item.

I'm a double sided tape gal too. Just a short strip of very thin double sided tape on the inside back of the card, just to the right of the crease, does the trick perfectly. (I use a strip roughly about half the (short) length of the card)

If you're using a vellum insert then double sided tape will show through (faintly) and I've found the best way to hide this is by using ribbon, in a colour which matches or tones with the card. Again, you don't have to go crazy with the ribbon - just roughly enough to cover the tape showing through the vellum. (Give the ribbon a decorative cut to finish it off nicely and stop it from fraying). I attach the ribbon with a thin, short strip of double sided too.

What an absolutely brilliant idea!!! I never thought of sewing the insert in, but now you've said it I can see this working amazingly well. I'm going to give this a try today!

GREAT TIP - thanks for sharing that one. ~ G. x
