Hi
I'm looking for advice on best course of action. I have already had a look through the forum but really not sure where I stand.
Long story short, 4 weeks ago, had my weekly 240 mile drive north back home late at night, was seriously tired so pulled into Hilton Park Services around 10pm, fell asleep, actually woke up around 01:15am used the loo grabbed something from the shop and set off again.
Never thought anything of it until I received a Parking Charge Notice from CP Plus for £50 ( which has now gone to £90 ).......most people seem to say just ignore it but is this definitely the right thing to do?
I read on the Moto web site the reason for their parking charges was to "ensure fair use during the day to provide enough spaces for rest for long distance travellers" which as a regular long distance driver I can understand. However as I was there late at night the carpark was virtually empty.
Am I just clutching at straws here or should I ignore them and see what happens. It's just so annoying that you drive past signs telling you to Take a break as driving whilst tired is dangerous and when you do stop and take a break you get fined for it!!!!
Any advice greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Neither are you 'clutching at straws' nor should you ignore this scam.
If you read any other threads about any private parking company you will see we advise to challenge these now, without saying who was driving. But if this was 4 weeks ago you are nearly letting your appeal chance slip as you only have 28 days from receipt of the first letter.
Did they send the Notice to Keeper so that you received it by 'Day 14' from the incident? Does the Notice to Keeper comply with this checklist?

You really just need to read other threads and send the first challenge off (not written as the driver, but in the third person as the keeper only) as you will see examples of in many threads here.
Then you will need help to win it at POPLA, second stage appeal, where we know how to word it to get this cancelled.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Original date was the 09.05.13, on my reminder letter it says a notice was sent to me on 17.05.13, as I work away during the week it arrived sometime week commencing 20.05.13 and it was issued to me by my name not as the registered keeper ???
There is an email address on the back of the letter for appeals to be sent to.
I will take a look now to see what I can find.
Thanks for reply0 -
Of course it was issued to you by name if you are the registered keeper! You appeal, writing it carefully from the point of view of the registered keeper not the driver, none of the usual rubbish appeal 'I parked my car, I did this, I did that'.
You'll find the info you need on other threads, I just read two with example challenges on them in the last 3 minutes, on page one of this forum.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
