Boiler noise

I have a 6 year old potterton 80 combi that is playing up, if you run a bath or take a shower the boiler will carry on after you turn off the hot water then lock out and make a hell of a noise banging and clattering. the heating is fine, any ideas?

What colour is your water. Is it like a light brown/ broen colour?
Our boiler started to make knocking noises and clattering then after about a couple of weeks the water went a little dis coloured. Light brown then it went very brown and it had bits in it. My husband and I asked a plumber to come and have a look and he said that the water tank had gone and the brown colour was from the hot water tank.
We decided to get a complete new system in. New boiler and radiators. Our boiler was nearly 25 years old though.
It was worth it and now its lovely and warm in our house and we have no dis coloured water any more.

Yep, same one. stopped for a while but has restarted with a vengeance!
