Keeping plants alive when away from home?

I really hope someone can help! I'm not at all greenfingered - I usually manage to kill off plants quite quickly! - but I currently have a jasmine plant and a small chilli plant that seem (touch wood) to be doing quite well. They live on my kitchen table, as we live in a top floor flat without windowsills.

I'm going away for 10 days on Sunday, and have just realised I have no idea what to do with them! I have no one I can ask to water them, so I'm in desperate need of advice! I was thinking about a drip feeder thing, but is that water or just plant food? Would that keep them alive for 10 days?

Thanks in advance :)

Capillary matting fill the sink with water and dip one end in the sink the other on the draining board and place the plants on it

We just put an inch or so of water in the sink/bath and stand the plants in that. They seem to thrive on it.

Thanks for this - I think I'll try this rather than the matting. Mainly because I don't have to buy anything. Thanks again :)

Some plants don't like wet feet so I wouldn't leave sitting in water. My method is to water well and then shut into an extra large clear plastic bag and leave out of direct sun - often in the bath.

Capillary matting is best. Or use a towel in the same way, using a plastic sheet underneath.
