Toronto - New york...Amtrak

Hello

I'm off to Toronto this summer. I will then be taking Amtrak Mapleleaf train from Toronto - New York.

Just wondering if anyone has done the same and how the experience and journey was.

Any comments appreciated.

Thanx

    Hello
I have never done the Toronto-New York line on Amtrak, but did the New York-Washington and also New York-Philadelphia and Washington-Philadelphia and never had any problems. It was easy and convenient.
You can check the schedules and prices on the amtrak website.

Hi, i did the New York to Toronto journey, found it quite relaxing, nice scenery etc, one highlight was the over zealous immigration officials checking everyones details att he border and smirking at our pics in the dated 10 year passports. :)

Hi, we did New York to Niagara in September. As the others have said - no problems, relaxing etc...but it does take a loooong time as the trains don't run as fast as the one in the UK. Have a good time.

Hi, I have done from Toronto to Miami on Amtrak stopping at various places en route. It was fab. I bought a book at the time, can't remember what it was called exactly (could have been Train journeys in the USA), but i got it from WHS and it detailed all the stops and landmarks on the way. Obviously it is a long journey and the trains don't always run to time (a couple of hours late was not unheard of!) and I did find the overnights a little rough as air conditioning was a bit fierce.
But overall, sit back relax and savour every moment it was a brill experience.
