Is it normally thins slow.

We put in an offer over 6 weeks ago and this was accepted. So far we are still waiting for the vendor solicitors to send a draft contract. We have of course contacted our solicitor and were informed they will follow thins up. The EAs have yet to return our calls.

So my question is, does it normally take this long?

That seems like a long time to me, we had an offer accepted 6 weeks ago as well and our solicitor got the draft contract within 2 weeks I think. The problem is that your solicitors don't do the necessary enquiries before they get the draft contract so it holds everything up. Have you applied for your mortgage?

If it was me I would call the EA and express your concern about the process seeming to take a long time and ask if you're aware of any hold up on the seller's end.

No it shouldn't take six weeks. A week, two at most.
Sounds like the Vendor is messing around. Contact the EA asap and find out what is going on.

We put an offer in last Monday, accepted Monday, property withdrawn from market.

We received draft contract on Friday, this will be hand delivered back to solicitor tomorrow, duly completed, signed and with all documents eg bank statements, id etc enclosed. Mortgage applied for, survey instructed.

A meeting with Vendors fixed for this week to discuss the restoration work they have done (Listed Building) and a history lesson:rotfl:

This was all been done in 5 working days.

You need to keep things moving forwards to minimise the risk of the sale collapsing.

    Hi,

    I know how you feel.

We put an offer on the house we are in the process of buying the same afternoon we viewed it on 12th April.

Its now 2 months later, the mortgage is sorted, searches are done etc but still our solicitors are chasing after some further documentation from the vendor in regards to some improvements that were done to the house in the past.

To be fair the EA and our mortgage advisor did warn us from the beginning it would take between 8-12 weeks to complete and I have kept in regular contact with the solicitors and EA and we were advised that as the vendor is buying a leasehold property it may take a little longer.

But I must admit, our patience is wearing thin and I am totally bored by the whole waiting game and faff of buying a property.

I have always rented, so have always been happy knowing Ive been able to move when I want with far less hassle.

However I am keeping positive, in the hope that completion is not too far away, otherwise I think we will be looking for somewhere else soon, its only the fact that we would be losing money thats already been spent that has stopped me looking already.

I wish you lots of luck and hopefully things will speed up for you soon

    Good Luck!:)

    Chase, chase, chase.

You're the customer. If people aren't doing things for you, get on the phone. Be persistent. Make a complaint if things are really bad.

You need to be your own advocate. Be assertive and chase every day.

Where are the vendors moving to? My guess would be they are having trouble finding somewhere / getting an offer accepted, so are using this as a delaying tactic.

Hi everyone. Interestingly our solicitor emailed us today saying they have received most of the contract from the venders solicitor but are waiting for some more documents. In addition that the vendor wants to move fast. Laughable as we have been chasing this for some time now!

I am assuming the contract will show what the vendor is leaving behind (I.e.) shed etc?
  • I am in a similar boat - vendor wants a quick sale but their solicitor hasn't sent any of their paperwork over. Offer was accepted 6 weeks ago, survey done 2 weeks ago (it took a while). I had assumed everything was waiting until the survey was done, had no idea they were meant to have sent this stuff over in the mean time or I would have been chasing weeks ago.
