Does anyone know who you could contact to find out if a car has been involved in an accident. HPI only gives cat a b c d but I want a more in depth knowledge if the car has ever had an accident.
Thanks
Thanks
I'll worry about tomorrow when it happens

The only accident damage that is recorded is as you listed. You would need a thorough examination by an expert to find if any other accident repairs have been carried out.0

Get a body shop to take a look at it. There are machines that can record the depth of paint, so it's not even then they would suggest it's had a touch up at some point.0

Trace previous owners and ask them.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0

Not something that is possible in reality without a professional inspection. Just because a car may of had paintwork in its life. Does not mean its been in an accident.
Your car could not be a cat A or B as it would not be allowed back on the road. C or D means it has been an insurance write off, which will mean its been damaged in some way ( normally accident damage).
Why do you feel the need to find out beyond a HPI check?.0 -
As above a proper check, But is it worth the cost. New cars with zero miles on the clock can have paint repairs done before the 1st owner gets it.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

Many thanks for all your replies.
Just an on going saga with a dealer tat sold the car as:
No major faults - gearbox replaced within 2 days of getting it
Not been in an accident - creasing in the inner wing join, overspray front end/wing, bonnet does not shut properly.
Going to an independent body shop tomorrow so will find out extent of damage/repairs done.
Thanks once again.I'll worry about tomorrow when it happens0 -
If I saw a car advertised as 'has not been in an accident' alarm bells would be ringing0
