House insurance

My mother recently passed away. We are currently in the process of selling her house.
My sister stays in the house at weekends and it is visited on a regular basis during the week by other relatives.
We have removed all valuables but need to get house insurance.
How can we do this? What type of policy do we need?
Can I take out a policy in my name whilst it is not my main residence?
