Well I can see your problem. I live in my house that I own as I have no mortgage on it so what I get in pension more than covers my needs .I enjoy going away on my travels, and try to do so for as long as I am able (I suffer with arthritis and have limited mobility)I always feel that there will come a time when I can't get around like I do so I make the most of every day whilst I can. Depending on your locality, I would be tempted to do as Edinvestor said, and see if you can buy the place you rent, as it will always then be there as a back-up when you retire . then try to cut down on your hours a bit and maybe think of where you would like to go in the world .I have just been to America on holiday and had a wonderful time .I hope to travel to Russia next year as it's somewhere I have always had a yen for. But if you just stick your cash in the bank it will be whittled away by inflation and in 10 years won't have the spending power it's got today .So do as my old Mu used to say 'Spend a bit on essentials , save a bit for later on, and enjoy a bit now .You can't take it with you and it's just a means to an end .0

Jackie,
I find warmer dry climate helps with my aches and pains."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi
