you were talking about frozen accounts now move on to if co-op allow accounts pre or post BR and thinks that proves your point? sorry it doesn't.

Fact is if the OR has no interest in an account, then it's up to the bank if they close it, some do some don't, my account was not frozen which I opened pre BR as the OR did not have an interest in it.

BTW how on earth would the co-op know you were going to go BR before you do it, so they wouldn't allow you to open an account? they woundn't unless you were daft enough to tell them.

Aside from the previously stated fact there is no such egal or financial condition as 'about-to-declare-BR'...the advisers was perfectly correct.

They do not open accounts for Undischarged BRs.

If one intends to petition BR in the near future...by the time the application for an account is processed..ie applied-for, the individual will already be an Undischarged BR.
No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......

it takes days to open an account, and 12 months or a little less after BR to become undischarged...I'm not sure you understand what undischarged means, if you think opening a bank account can take a year to complete?

Of course, silly me, I haven't clue what 'undischarged ' means?

Not that I've ever been 'undischarged?'

However, I have looked it up, and basically, it coves the time one is having one's financial affairs investigated by the OR.

It may well last a year...sometimes more, sometimes less....but, the simple fact is, it commences at some point? IE, the minute the Judge grants the petition?

From that point on, the BR individual is undischarged until either a Court orders otherwise [ED] or one achieves AD.

SO, if one applies for an account very close to the date of petition, and the banks haven't processed the application...then....that application could start processing after the individual becomes Undischarged BR?

Nothing to do with how long one is Undischarged...but, at what point one becomes Undischarged.

what you are trying to convince yourself of? you talk about before going BR and opening a bank account, and that you will be undischarged by the time the account is open  sorry you're just wrong, it's a max of 12 months to be undischarged or slightly less if you are one of the lucky few who gets an early discharge, but either way it's months, opening a bank account takes days,

    I am confused now.

I opened a co-op cashminder account last week and recieved my visa debits today.

I spoke to Step Change today and they informed me that co-op would close my account when i go bankrupt!

I always thought you were ok if you are declared bankrupt after you open the account?

Seems a complete waste of time now opening the account if we wont be able to keep it.

Will have to ring co-op and find out. According to Step change they dont accept undischarged bankrupts even if you were solvent when you opened the account.

Really annoyed now, thought we were sorted.

no need to ring, your OR tells the bank anyway, if your OR is happy for you to use the account, he/she will tell the bank, it is then up to the bank if they close it, my bank didn't allow BR but they didn't close the account.
