How much does CAT D reduce car valuation
Comments
-
really depends on how old the car is.
new(ish) could be 20-30%
old(ish) could be nothing0 -
Excellent, another thread where we're given no details and expected to know the answer anyway.
Make and model
Fuel
Trim level
etc etc0 -
I would say at least 1/3 off of any vehicle. If you look on Ebay plenty of bargains to be had. They often say cat D hence price.0

Knock about a 1/3 off the value unless its a rare or sought after car, if selling when its 8-9 years old or over then there shouldnt really be much difference.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0

Indeed.
We need to know what car it is.
if its a £1k ford mondeo, it wont make any difference.
If its a 2008 Lamborghini Gallardo its going to make a lot of difference0 -

Sometimes these questions are best asked as a generalisation and I think post 2 covers it (generally).
I run salvaged cars that I have had repaired and the way I work out how much to pay for salvage is to take a realistic value for the car in reasonable condition. Knock off a third. Talk to my mate in the bodyshop (he is an optimist so I have to add a bit on for hidden problems) and then that gives me the price I can pay at auction.
My pal in the bodyshop works on about 20% but I want to build in more margin for error.
The other thing to note, is that from my point of view I plan to run them until they die so resale is of little or no importance for me.0 -

Apologies for lack of info. The car is Toyota Aygo 2008 with Bluetooth and rear parking sensors installed by Toyota. I plan to keep the car for at least another 2 years before selling it.0
