Mortgage and Loan

Hi
I wonder if anybody can help me and my partner in a messy situation....
My partners ex wife lives in their family house with their child.
My partner has his child 50% of the time (2 day rota).
When he left 2 year ago he left her with everything including car and all contents of house and went back to live with his mum.
He currently pays her £900+ per month.... this is an accumaltaion of things for the child i.e dinner monies and sports activties, savings etc etc but mostly half their mortgage and a loan. When they were together they got a fixed 5 year loan in his name and got an extension on the house.
He did not want to cause too much upheival for his child at the time as she struggled accepting her parents splitting up.
He still has 32 months to pay on the loan and whilst at one point he didnt mind and has paid this amount since they split me and him are now wanting to look at buying a house ourselves but we do not know what would be the financially best option....
Has anybody been in a simular situation or have any advice? My partner is reluctant to make them move out of the house so we are trying to see if there any other avenues we can try first.

Yes, you both save up a decent deposit together and you raise a mortgage in your name only.0
