Travel insurance additional medical expenses

I've never made an insurance claim before, but 3 weeks ago I fell over in Spain & ripped my knee open. My medical treatment has been sorted out via my EHIC card. I was due to fly home the day after the fall but I couldn't make the flight, however I'm now home courtesy of the insurance company. My question now is what do the insurance company class a "additional expenses"? I don't have any accommodation cost to claim as I was staying with a friend. I assume I can claim for taxi's to and from the clinic/hospital & for my prescription medication. However could I claim for, the ripped trousers, parking costs as my car overstayed its booking at the airport, costs for the extra nights my dog was at the kennels, extra food costs (how much on a daily rate?), phones calls/faxing, the cost of the flight that I never caught due to the fall and any other general expenses that have occurred directly as a result of my fall and delayed return home. Any help would be great, I don't what to seem pushy and claim for things I shouldn't, but on the other hand if I have valid expenses I want to put them in and get paid out what I'm due.

You should be able to claim for all that except the ripped trousers, just ensure you have the invoices/receipts0

Fantastic, thank you for that information :T0

You might ask them if they make a token payment per night for you not staying in a hotel (as you've saved them a fortune).0
