HSBC Contactless Card

As you can see I am fully aware of this, but I want to use cash so I am happy to take the risk. I don't want to use contactless, therefore I don't want to be exposed to the risks, ie I don't want it on my card.
I only use CnP and contactless and I see the flaws in magstripe, and as I never use it I want a card that only has the former and not the later. However I know that's not practical so I'm prepared to accept the later knowing the bank will refund me if I'm disadvantaged by it being used fraudulently.
Considering that magstripe is far more likely to be used for fraud compared to contactless, I think I have a point, however the banks will ignore me as I'm in the minority.
Soon it will be impractical to produce cards without Contactless, so you need to get used to it now as you'll be forced to use it at some time in the future.0 -

EU cards not only have the magstripe for non-chip and pin countries but also has it for systems that don't really support EMV like tolls throughout Europe. Some ATMs are still also not EMV enabled. Magnetic stripe technology is good for certain things.0 -
I do not have a problem with contactless cards.
With HSBC debit cards you do have a choice. Although the regular issued debit cards are now contactless you can request one without the feature if you are worried about security.
However all new HSBC credit cards are now contactless with no option for ordering a traditional CnP card.0 -

I agree its good for certain things. So is contactless.
The argument I was making is that I don't use it and don't feel it is secure, so don't want it, but the banks are unlikely to produce a card without it even though the fraud is high.
Likewise, gusgorman wants a card without contactless because he doesn't want it and feels like its insecure, despite the fact that fraud is practically non-existent with it.0 -
I have an Oyster card and had problems using it when HSBC sent me a contactless card. I didn't want to have to take my Oyster out of my wallet every time I got on a bus or used the train so I bought a RFID blocking sleeve to put my debit card in. It works a treat and now the 2 cards don't interfere with each other.Martin0

What a load of rubbish.
In 2 years of dealing with contactless cards. I have seen 2 cases of contactless fraud....
Given how many cases of shoulder surfing I see on a weekly basis. These idiots clearly are not aware that they could use the contactless side of the card. Even after it has been stopped :rotfl:
I guess you are not aware that there is a £20 limit on transactions and also a limit on amount/number of transactions that can be made before the PIN has to be entered....Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -

More rubbish.
Security systems work on fraud patterns...
NOT customer spending.Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0
