I sent off the fos ppi claim form to HSBC registered post 8 weeks ago this week
HSBC acknowledged by letter 2 weeks later & said they will respond within 8 week
My question is when is the 8 week from? When I sent the letter or when they acknowledged it?
If from when j sent it should I ring them to chase them up or go straight to FOS?

Only go to FOS if you want to wait around eighteen months. Only contact the Bank if you've heard nothing at all when the eight week period is over.
I recommend some patience.0 -
Give them a chance. We all know there is a backlog and high levels coming in every day. Most cannot achieve the 8 week guideline. Going to the FOS will just put you in a longer queue. Plus, you may not benefit from auto payout if you did as there is no point autopaying out to avoid the FOS fee if you have already referred it to the FOS.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The 8 weeks from when they receive your letter/their acknowledging letter. They can't investigate a complaint that they haven't actually received can they?. You can't go to the FOS until 8 weeks ahve passed or until they send a full and final response.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0
