Isn't it about time that ALL 3 Credit Reference Agencies were put out of business and replaced by 1 National Agency (for personal consumers, at least) with fixed low or FREE prices and a clear legally defined way of operating!!!
Considering the influence on people's financial affairs and other potentially linked affairs such as housing and employment, isn't it the best way to go?

It's about time that banks were made to dirty their hands collecting their own bad debts, rather than passing or selling them to some debt collector, who they can distance themselves and their reputation from.
Theres not got a chance in hell of that happening either.Still rolling rolling rolling......<

I don't see an issue with there being different agencies.
They do have fixed low pricing - its £2, which is a lot cheaper than obtaining information under the data protection act.
I have thought in the past it it would be good if all consumers were able to get 1 free copy from each agency once a year but £2 is not a lot of money.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
America give 1 free report a year via equifaxDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Majority of people should never have a need to refer to their credit profile.
Without the data then the cost of borrowing would be far higher.0
