And if we didn't get the G8 hosting opportunity then that too would be a chance to complain about how our wee country gets forgot about ...
Week or so disruption, our country promoted on a global stage ... sounds fair to me

No i have no intention of calling it Belfast International Airport.
It's not in Belfast and nowhere near it!
We're not stooping to Ryanair levels here!

It's about 15 miles from the city centre!
And as my current garden isn't quite big enough for my own private runway, I'm happy enough with that for now...

Anyway please be advised that the very over-rated G8 summit is to be held on 17 and 18 June 2013. Which means complete chaos at the above airport over the next week or so.

On the bright side it'll be over before the real holiday chaos starts...

Ever used London Luton? It's Luton, Bedfordshire. London has nothing to do with it.

    It's brilliant getting the G8.

The absence of proper information is really irritating. Allow extra time - how much? 1 hour 2 hours 3 hours half an hour - what???

Obama in Belfast on Monday - where? What routes are affected, where to avoid, times?

If these people are going to disrupt out country then they should have the respect to provide quality information. If they can't handle the security by doing so then they're in the wrong place.

I can respect the frustration you feel but I'd urge a little bit of caution. I don't think they'll issue too much information about routes etc because of the security issue. Imagine hoe terrible it would be for our wee part of the world if something bad were to happen to one of these powerful figures, especially Obama. :)

A friends son attends a school near the GB city airport, yes a proper Belfast airport but I digress ;) The school is closing on Monday due to the bypass being closed from 8am to 11am for high highness President Obama arriving in. Word is he's being flown into Aldergrove, choppered into the City for his Belfast appointments then choppered out again to relax in 5 star comfort in Fermanagh. It's as well for some :p

Sydenham bypass (will be closed for a while), Oxford St, and all around the city hall according to BBC this morning. Join up places in between that too.
DRD minister advises being in the city centre by 8am on Monday, or leave it long after that. Also advises using public transport, and extra train/bus capacity is being put on...
