When to ask best man and bridesmaids?

I asked my bridesmaids as soon as I got engaged in feb last year. Although we are due to get married in October, my husband to be has not yet sorted out his best man and ushers, which is most frustrating.
I would say that as long as there is enough to time to arrange suits/speeches etc then all should be fine!0
