hi
asking question for a friend. His boy is around 15kG and 2.5 years old. dont know height!
he doesnt own a car so doesnt know a lot about car seats. However he needs to travel using a car in a week so can he use one of those booster cushions or does he need a proper car seat? as its a one time travel he doesnt want to spend too much on car seat as he is able to borrow a booster cushion from a friend.

Not for a 2.5 year old, no. He needs a group 1 seat.Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0 -

A proper group 1 car seat definitely. The chances are a child of that age will want to sleep in the car so a booster wouldn't be suitable anyway. You can get some group 1/2 car seats. Which may work out to be better value as they don't travel by car very often.0

My son is the same age and weight, and for safety he'll still need a group 1 seat.
I would not be happy putting my son on just a booster seat, even if he is heavy enough for their weight "suggestions".Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
If he doesn't want to spend a lot, it is possible to hire carseats for one off occasions. There are companies like this one online http://www.babycomes2.co.uk/pages/product-hire-1
As others have said booster seats aren't suitable (or legal) at this age0 -
Is he hiring a car? If so the car company usually has appropriate size seats.
Yes he needs a proper car seat. We recently hired a car overseas and the company tried to persuade us that a booster seat was fine for our 2 year old (they had messed up our request for a child seat). We tried it and frankly it was dangerous as she was slipping all over the place - so ended up back at airport making a fuss till then found a proper seat.We Made-it-3 on 28/01/11 with birth of our gorgeous DD.0
