Trip cancellation

We booked a motor biking holiday in April, to take place in September- ferry from Newcastle to Holland and train to Livorno. We now need to cancel as undergoing surgery next month due to deteriorating hip pain- arthritis was declared when taking out insurance last June 2012. Current policy will expire in a few weeks. I'm afraid that policy won't cover this cancellation as it is outside period of policy. If I renewed policy would I be covered? Any ideas? Thanks

Assuming you have an annual policy, then if you now need to cancel then do so now (presumably the sooner you cancel the less the cancellation costs, and you can get appropriate medical evidence that the trip cannot take place)

You will be covered if they agreed to cover your arthritis related conditions.

Hi Quentin, thanks for reply- yes I do have annual multi-trip policy but I fear they have a clause about not covering trips outside the expiration period. There is no refund from ferry company with a loss of £266.

This policy has been a nightmare as I had to claim following a ski accident - it didn't cover half my expenses with excesses for everything! Sometimes I wonder what use this policy is!

Check the policy wording, normally you would have cover for the trip (assuming they accepted you at renewal).

As far as cancelling now is concerned, if you are covered for your arthritis there should be no problem.
