I have a car insurance policy in my name and my 21 yr old son as the named driver - if I buy another car also in my name - is there an insurance company that will allow my son to remain as the named driver on my first car? I am with Frizzell at the moment, and they have said that if I have more than one policy in my name, then my son will have to be the main driver on one of them. Is there a way around this?

Legally, if your son drives the car more than you do, then it's an offence to state that he is a named driver and not the main one.NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0

Are you basically giving the car you have now to your son, and trying to keep the cost down by keeping the policy in your name? If so, that is called 'fronting' and it is illegal.
Do you realise you won't be able to use your no claims on both cars?:A MSE's turbo-charged CurlyWurlyGirly:AThinks Naughty Things Too Much Clique Member No 3, 4 & 5

thanks for the advice - haven't heard of 'fronting' before0 -

As expensive as it is, everyone needs to get their own insurance started and build up no claims. I am in the same boat, but my daughter is only learning. As soon as she passes her test, I doubt we will ever see the wife's car.... So she will need to get her own insurance.NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works!
