Anyone Switched to EDF Blue+ Price Promise?

How did they (EDF) manage to input the wrong gas reading?
When I switched I was asked to input the readings myself online.
Anyway, as long as its not too far out, and its the same reading your last supplier uses to create your final bill (Your last supplier should get the reading from EDF), then there's probably not much worth worrying about.
I was away on holiday when the changeover happened.
If I'd inputted the reading online when I got back it wouldn't have been on the correct date.I made EDF aware of this before hand and they asked me to email them the reading when I returned.
As there was no gas usage while I was away I gave them the correct reading on my return.
Now they are saying the reading may be incorrect and when I checked my account it was showing a different reading to what I had told them, not vastly different but different all the same.
I gave them the correct figure (for the 3rd time) and now they've asked for a photo of the meter which I have given them.
I've switched numerous times before without any problems, the meter hasn't been changed since 1993 so I don't know what their problem is.0 -

If you could email, you presumably had internet access.
The fact you didn't provide the meter reading within the required window is probably why you ended up with an estimated reading being used. This would be the approach used by most suppliers.
Perhaps you should have called them on the day of the switch with the meter reading if you were not able to access the internet0 -

What has internet access got to do with it ?
I was abroad on holiday the last thing on my mind was giving a meter reading lol
EDF actually said the change over would occur between 2 dates, there wasn't a definite date given before I went away, they sent the email for the actual date while I was away.
Like I've already said,EDF agreed for me to give the reading by email when I returned from holiday which I did....and which they confirmed they had received, twice.
If they'd estimated a reading and subsequently had a higher reading off me what's the issue ?
Next time I switch suppliers maybe I should cancel my holiday eh0 -

They would have already used an estimated meter reading (agreed by your previous supplier) because you failed to supply an actual one as they requested.
Any change now will need to be agreed by both suppliers ... and if it's not a substantial difference, I doubt they will bother.0 -
brewerdave wrote: »Buzby - genuine query - I'm on Blue price promise April 14- are you saying that you haven't had a nonsensical recalculation of DD after any bill has been issued??
Looking back over the past 22 months I've had to phone them on 5 different occasions to get the DD returned back down to a sensible level -for example, after this May's annual review bill, they wanted to increase the DD by £35 pm EVEN THO' I was only £12 in debt after the abnormally cold Spring (and a boiler breakdown/ replacement)- that would have put me at least £350 in credit by next review date!!:rotfl:
Ive had similar problems with DD calculations - seems to be some wierd glitch in their computer system. Everytime I attempted to update my meter reading online (Once a month) Its automatically recalculated my DD from £65p/m for dual fuel to £120+ despite at the time the account being in £227 credit!
The email support is hopeless, I sent a complaint about the fact their system doesnt seem to take into account credit and ended up with a page long reply in broken english telling me I was being charged more as I was using more, which totally missed the point that I had been making!
Thankfully calls to them instantly gets the DD re-set but its a pain to have to do after each meter reading.
My annual review seems to be April and Ive recently had my DD reduced to £46p/m which seems fairly reasonable, but Ive not updated my reading for months due to the DD recalculations, instead keeping my own log of usage.
In terms of price though they can't be beaten, cheapest by at least £80 to the next comparable based on my useage.0 -
Be prepared to lose all those nice account features you have with Scottish Power, when you move to EDF. Theres no energy usage monitor, so it makes it harder to track usage and understand it unless you do it yourself.0

Just reading the posts about switching from Scottish Power to EDF whilst on holiday. I'm thinking of moving to EDF (you may have seen me posting all over this forum board whilst I try and work out what to do for the best;)), and would like to set the ball rolling tonight but I am going on holiday in 10 days for a week. Just wondering whether I should wait 'til I get back? That would mean paying Scottish Power's standard prices for a short time as my current fix ends on the 30th June, which I'd rather not do.
Daz2009, how long before your hol did you set your switch in motion?
As for the varying direct debits. I don't mind as long as it's not a problem for them to change them when you phone up.0 -

Any switch will typically take 4-6 weeks ... so you'll be back well before then0 -
I was on the SP fixed deal that ended at the end of May. I started the switch around 10 days before and the electricity was due to switch over today and the gas next week. I have provided EDF with meter readings online and everything appears to be going well so far.
Interestingly though, SP called tonight trying to entice me to stay, but once they heard I was off to EDF they gave up. They had one deal that was a longer fix with a slightly higher price, but for me EDF wins because of the no-exit penalty. ALthough prices are likely to come down anytime soon, I am free to switch again whenever suits me if the right deal comes along.0 -

The only feature of any gas or electric company I used was nPower's app which allowed me to input readings easily.
Think I will change, even though I probably won't complete the 2 years. Will then look again in 6/12 months see if there is a cheaper deal.0
