Setting up a Will

Hi,

Not sure if this is the best place for asking this but can anybody point me in the direction of any posts/articles relating to MS way's of setting up a Will?

Thanks in advance, I did search but unfortunatly the term 'Will' brings up just about every post on the site!

This might be of help if you are 55 or older, but it's only available for about another 6 days!

It is only for simple wills, if you've got complicated affairs it won't be a suitable service for you. HTH

Nope. Looking online it looks like you can get it done for under £40. I was just wondering if there are anythings I should look out for like making sure all bases are covered as to what goes in.

I think it depends on what you mean by money saving.

Personally I would never consider one of those diy will kits simply because you only have to put one ambigious phrase and then the solicitors will rake it in trying to sort it out. Money spent on getting it right at the beginning is money well spent in my view.

However one money saving tip I can offer is never get a solicitor to act as executor, especially if your estate will be easy to administer....in my experience you provide all the info while they charge the earth.

We made our wills through the Willaid scheme.

Willaid lets you make a will with a local solicitor as long as they have signed up to the scheme. It runs for a month (I think it's November) and the money you pay for the will goes to charity. The recommended donation you pay to charity is only a little bit cheaper than if you were paying the solicitor, so it's not the cheapest option.

The solicitor we used said he made stacks of cash from raking through DIY wills. Don't know how true that statement is.
