A Way To Check A Room's Electric Usage?
Comments
-
There is no accurate way of determining the consumption of a room.
You can get cheap plug-in power meters that will measure the consumption of appliances plugged into a socket. For instance you might find that the TV averages 100watts an hour, a laptop 25 watts etc and you can extrapolate.
Similarly with lights if you look at the bulb ratings you can work out consumption per hour.
The difficulty comes with appliances that have a thermostat e.g. an electric heater. The plug in power meter will show consumption over a given period, but the consumption on one day, might be considerably higher/lower than another day.0 -
Is there anyway to check a rooms electric usage? I live in a shared house and would like to know the cost of how much electric I use (not the others in the house)
It's not that simple. What about communal stuff like hot water, cooking facilites, etc.
You share the house, you need to all be in agreement on sharing the bills0
