Letting agents issues

Just wondering if anyone can help.

We recently moved out of a property and handed the keys back with an inspection with estate agent 'A'- no issues noted (31st May)

Now a week later (7th June) we had a phonecall from estate agent 'B' saying 'A' hadn't done his job properly and listed a whole load of non issues:

1. Carpet hasn't been cleaned properly (they were cleaned by a reputable company who came with many recommendations and they have the receipt to prove this)
2. Marks in kitchen on the wall which were marked as wear and tear initially aren't
3. Ovens not working - had been reported to them before we moved out but part was not available before we moved out (they sent out electrician)
4. Now saying issues we have had with the bathroom during our whole tenancy are our fault (they're not and have never said that during multiple repairs
5. Damage to paintwork caused by mould is our responsibility ( we constantly reported this and eventually got given a dehumidifier but no other investigations that were promised ever happened - again at first inspection we were told that was not our problem as was structural

After all this we've now found out they've had plumbers in the house (which caused damage last time they came).

Can they come up with all these issues after we have been for the inspection and other people have been in the house?

Any help much appreciated!

  • What is your deposit status? Do you have a deposit that has been protected and they are now telling you that they are going to make deductions?

Did you sign something when the exit inspection happened and do you have a signed (and dated) inventory from when your tenancy started?

Most likely (based on what you've said so far) they will not be able to make deductions from your deposit as they have a check-out showing the place was left in a good state and have had further access since, although the specifics will matter.
