You were told correctly.0 -
Nope, you should have got one of these:

That said, my Barclaycard has an existing customer 0% BT card for money transfers for 12 months so Barclaycard do allow money transfers but it's up to them when they have a live offer0 -
You're stuffed on that one, I'm afraid.
In the past, Barclaycard would sometimes allow you to transfer money to a bank account. You could always ring them and ask. If they agree then do the transfer and use the funds to pay off the loan.
A convoluted way (and more expensive) would be to use another credit card to get cash advances (to pay off the loan) and then use your Barclaycard BT offer to clear that credit card. Snag is: 1) fees on both CCs* and a small amount of interest, 2) you might face some cash advance limit - possibly a daily limit on what you can draw out and an overall limit on what can be outstanding.
(* unless by chance you have a card which doesn't impose cash advance fees - eg Halifax Clarity, Santander Zero)
A similar method is to buy Sterling Travellers Cheques and then pay them in. Generally buying TCs are treated as cash advances but you won't be bound by an ATM limit.0
