Eon Direct Debit Price Hike

I have just checked my bank account to see that Eon have increased my direct debit by £64!

I have had no notification about this; no emails, no postal correspondence, nothing.

Are they breaching the Direct Debit Guarantee?

Anyone else had this and how did you resolve the issue?

Thanks

Debbie

It was well-hidden as part of my online bill; fortunately I spotted it in advance and accepted the proposed increase (£30/month in my case). I didn't get a separate letter or email though; they really dropped the ball on communicating that one.

I will take a closer look at my last bill then. Seems they're slippery suckers with hiding essential information.

    Thanks for the reply x

We were with Eon and noticed the same problem - DD increase was notified on previous bill, not by separate communication. Luckily, we check our bills and noticed it so it did not come as a shock

    Morning Deborandum,

If your Direct Debit has changed, it should advise you of this on the first page on your bill.

If you have an online account the bills are exactly the same as those that come through the post, but you will need to log in to view it.

A letter will come out with your review.

I will certainly feed back the thread though, as it appears a few have had the same issue.

    Thanks

    Helena :)

I've just been onto the EON website to enter my meter readings and I noticed that they now have a facility to set your own direct debit. There is also details on how EON's estimate of how much you should pay was calculated.

I like that recalculation tool - just reduced my direct debit as they suggested I was now overpaying.

The DD increase isn't mentioned at all in my May bill online/PDF. I can't see now where I spotted the proposed increase, but the DD manager tool wasn't on the site when I got the May bill. I'm not surprised people have been caught out by this; the increase should've been prominent on the latest bill.
