Well was hoping for a NSD today .. Had to buy my weekly shop but I kept it a minimum ... Only spent £11 but that did include a couple of bags of sweets for our movie night on Saturday 😉
But by spending £3 on sweets I'm saving on cinema tickets and a night out 😉😉
Hoping for a NSD tomorrow ... Got kids guitar lesson but that's already paid x

    Hello Everyone!!!

I haven't been on here since ChihiroSen first started this thread and it's lovely to see how much it's grown and how everyone has joined the challenge!! :T

There are some really great ideas on here and I love that hair dye is included as part of essentials (I dye my hair too!!) and I will continue to watch this thread with interest as I also don't really buy anything apart from the essentials and whoop! stopped myself from buying a virtual basket of Hobbs clothes the other day which would have been 400 quid (full of their sale items), walked away then shut the internet window right down!!!!! :T

Its difficult sometimes - we're so conditioned to see something and buy it without thoughts of the consequences but we're fighting back !!!!! and it is empowering to think no-I can survive without a dress or a pair of shoes!!!!!

Keep up the good work people!!!!

Hiya, I go to Tesco but that does not answer your question:(

I always have coupons to use. Next week's shop I will be using the Tesco coupon spend £60 and get £9 off your shopping bill.

I look around the coupon threads too! before I go out the door as there are savings to be made.

Quidco are offering some pennies back if you pick up things from their list at the diffrent supermarkets.
You have to photo the receipt and send it in over the net.

Shopping is becoming more than loyalty cards, it is a mission!
Getting the food you need at the cheapest price.

    Happy shopping....

I shop at both. Tesco points add up faster but iI prefer a lot of Sainsburys stuff.

It's handy to have Nectar card if you've only got a certain amount of money on you and you get to the till and find you've spent more than you've got or if you see a realyy good offer. You can spend your points at the till which you can't do with Tesco point.

    No red face!

There's no tesco nearby so I can't speak for them but I buy food/fuel at sainsbobs. I also collect by using their on line search bar, and clicking on ad points which can 'earn' a couple of hundred points a week. Also you can collect sainsbobs points in homebase, argos etc. Last year I bought a garden shed with points in homebase - and they gave me points on my purchase! I've got another £97-worth already which is 'buying' me some decorating materials and new bedroom linens. From homebase/sainsbobs of course, so I get points on them which gives me a good start toward the next lot :)

    afternoon

Just had a sample of my first batch of elderflower champagne, hic, proved to be a hit with the neighbour! two more batches to sample at the end of the week. Thought I would mention the champagne tasting as its the first time I have made this, along with elderflower cordial which has also been a hit along with the ginger beer. Just goes to show what can be done with some foraging, cupboard staples and using a bit of elbow grease!

Haven't bought anything new for the house this week but was given a new to me wooden table for the garden which DH has repaired (total of 5 screws) and we have had our teas off it sat outside a couple of nights this week.

Spent a bit more on food than I would have liked but stocked up on nesc*fe as it was on offer and tried some Ald* choc peanuts and choc raisins both proved to be good.

DH is on hols this week and we are eating up out of the fridge and I will make scones and a cake for days out. Yesterday, we went to a country park and the charge for parking was £2.50, so we drove out and parked on a layby! Yep I know it sounds tight but we are cutting down costs here.

I have sown more leaf and salad plants for the rest of summer, should take about 3 weeks to come through.

So yesterday we had a nsd and today will be the same. Sounds like we are all thinking and trying our hardest to cut back and save and rethink what we are doing and how we do it! Yay!:T:T

  • Thanks for your replies,
Sparrer, you are an inspiration! Yes - I like to get "free" goods at the checkout using points, but I would really like to save up for something bigger.
