Well it's a week tomorrow for me and so far so good:T. It has been say so far but I think that's because it's a manic time for me until the end of term - that's when it will kick in:eek: but by then the savings will be showing the difference and hopefully spur me on;)
I am enjoying the blogging and have been spending most evenings stitching and crocheting which is helping with the Christmas pressies:). I have also entered a few competitions this week so fingers crossed for that.
Everyone seems to be doing so well:T:T£370/£300 April challenge :T:T0 -
Doing well here apart from one new book last month which I couldn't resist as it is impossible to find in this country, been trying for years and finally got it from the lovely author (gotta love facebook) :j
Knocked down my food spend too as new job in very upscale sandwich shop means free lunch and I bring one home for the OH for next days lunch. Also all scones etc are ditched after a day so I bring them home and they feed us/the dog too :j0 -

I didn't really need it - but I have been longingly looking at new filofaxes in a bigger size, especially with some currently on sale at 1/2 price at WHS. Having a 2014 diary makes me think I can't possibly get a new Filofax until 2015 at least. Silly logic, but whatever works !
You don't want to know what they charge for Filofax refills if you live in North Americas. Usually it's cheaper to buy a ne set in our version of TK Maxx!0 -

I love this idea and have read with interest. I'm not sure I could manage it. I did consider it but I'm off out this evening to buy a large fan as its just too hot in the house & a desk for my DS bedroom. Maybe I could start tomorrow0

Daytimer and Dayrunner refills also fit Filofaxes, they are pretty cheap in Staples USA/Canada.
Part of the plastic broke off my juicer lid tube and a replacement lid is £17.99. I juice daily so was trying to convince myself buying one was a necessity, I didn't see how I could possibly fix the broken one. I tried duct taping a piece of plastic to over the hole but lots fruit bits got stuck under the tape so it wasn't a good solution.
I was washing out a coleslaw pot my daughter brought home and thought it looked about the same size as the broken juicer tube. I cut out the bottom of the pot to make a sleeve and slipped it over the tube with the hole, it works perfectly! I can slip the whole thing off again to wash it. It should last at least until I find a slightly sturdier pot to slip over the tube.
Felt very smug for figuring out a way to make it work without spending any money!:happylove0 -
Oh I am so up for this ... I've got 5 months until the suprise holiday for my boys so I'm saving like mad ... Plus with just me now (decree absolute came through today) its a good habit to get into
My 2 boys are 10 and both want a new Xbox one for there birthday so I've told them we have to save ... So they are even on board now too
The only spends I really have are food shopping and posting my eBay stuff off so if I can keep it like this it would be great !
So please count me in too .

Hi all
On NSD 3 in a row today, have actually bought two bananas as a breakfast for DS on the way to nursery but both times found 10p on the floor afterwards so they were free (actually cost 8p and 9p)! Also got a Frizz Ease Miraculous Recovery hair mask for free in Tesco this morning as they're £1.49 and there is a £1.50 off any John Frieda coupon in the Tesco magazine and it doesn't exclude it! So actually, I am 4p up haha!
Did well this morning, had to take DS to the doctors before nursery so had to wait until 9am (usually drop him off at 7.30am) .Thought about going to Costa, but instead we fed the ducks with wild bird seed brought from home, and did our battery recycling in Aldi, so I didn't spend anything
Good luck to everyone taking part in this challenge xxMy debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |
Total £4151.44 | £2900.30 of £7051.74 paid off since diary started October 2024.0 -

I've just read your thread and it is brilliant.
Three years ago I challenged myself to spend nothing at all on clothes for 1 year. It was hard at first but then I just got used to it and succeeded.
My one regret was not buying pyjamas I saw in Dunnes while on holiday in Ireland. I nearly gave in and stood in the queue to buy them, at the last minute I about turned and put them back. But to be honest I still wished I had bought them.
After the year was up I went mad and spent a fortune on clothes.
Now my policy is one in .....one out. If I buy something I then donate something to the cs. This stops me overspending as I have to decide before buying what I am going to get rid of.
Reading you posts has made me think about doing this challenge again, but only if I can stop myself from going mad at the end !!!Debt free - Mortgage free - Work free ( in that order)
