Has anybody used it? If so have you been impressed or do you prefer traditional gloss? How is it for going yellow? I always find gloss goes yellow very quickly when exposed to the sun.
I'm thinking of doing our woodwork in the water based for several reasons, firstly it dries quicker, not needing white spirit as its a 40 minute drive to dispose of it and the smell of the stuff.

I have used Johnstones water based satin paint and am pleased with it. Its not cheap though.Only problem I have with water based paint is it dries very quickly and more difficult getting a good finish0

Spot on advice, use oil based if you aren't a professional. Much better finish because it dries slower.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

I have used water based gloss and satin for several years. It doesn't yellow so if you get scuffs you can touch them up and it doesn't show. I don't like the smell of spirit based paint so that is a big factor with me for using water based paint. It does take a bit of getting used to as it does dry quickly and once on you can't overbrush it, but it can be thinned a little with water which helps.
I wouldn't use anything else now.0 -
My decorator won't use anything else now, he swears it's much better than the old stuff. And the smell is not as bad nor does it linger as long.
I had three rooms painted earlier this year and I really like the finish and the feel, never really liked gloss although satin was OK.
When the place next needs painting (if we are still here) then it'll be the same paint.0 -

A professional decorator will get this finish, because he can go fast enough to get it.
I suppose its each to their own. My OH was a decorator for 50 years and he doesn't like it.
Its the amateurs that have the trouble with it.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

i've just used bedec new aqua advance w/b gloss, it is the nearest you'll get to a solvent based paint imho, you will never get that mirror shine of a solvent based gloss but the benefits of having a quick drying , non smelling, non yellowing paint more than makes up for this , if you are painting exterior woodwork the bedec msp paint is preferable as it is highly resistant to cracking and peeling , blistering etc and in my experience as outperformed dulux weathershield gloss.
the aqua paint sells for around £25 per 2.5ltrs and the msp is around £36 per 2.5ltr0
