Playing an MP3 file on iPod

I have an MP3 file on iTunes (transferred from an MP3 CD), when I play it using iTunes the whole length of the file is played e.g. 27mins, however when I transfer the file to my iPod and play it the last several seconds of the file are missing despite iPod showing that the length of the file is 27mins. Now here's the strange bit, when I transfer the file to a cheapo MP3 player I get the whole file played. If anyone can explain why my iPod only plays some of the files despite showing the correct length and another MP3 plays it all I would be very grateful. This doesn't happen to all my MP3 files just a select few.
