Parking Eye (sorry!)...

I apologise in advance - I know this is another Parking Eye thread :o I've had a long read of multiple threads on here yesturday & today, and hope the regulars here don't mind me posting a couple of queries as I still feel a little confused!

I received a "Parking Charge Notice" from Parking Eye in the last week, after overstaying a 3 hour limit at the Brent South Retail Park (opposite Brent Cross Shopping Centre, North London) by approx half an hour. The date of issue and receipt is within 14 days.

My family & I visited multiple shops - spending over £300 across 3 shops which I have receipts for - the last one being about 30 mins before we left. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find one receipt where we spent £10 in a shop and then within minutes exited the car park (so within the overstay time)... but I don't think this matters so much?

The questions I have:
1. Is it worth appealing? Would saying yes we were here, but we were spending - would this work? I notice a recent post saying this worked for someone. Any wording in particular that I need to put in my letter?

2. If I appeal, and the charge is overturned... I have figured that I will receive a code to use in an appeal to POPLA. What happens from here & most importantly what is the worst that could happen? To be honest, I'd rather pay the silly charge for peace of mind if it is going to be a long process that wastes alot of my time in having to respond/defend. I however am not too phased by threatening letters, so that wouldn't put me off pursuing this.

Thanks guys :D

Challenge this, scan in a couple of receipts and tell them to cancel this scam invoice. There is no loss to them or the retailers. They will probably come back with show us your bank statement, I don't recommend doing that at all, your receipts are enough.

If they reject your challenge tell them that you require a popla verification code to appeal independently, you will win there with our help.
When posting a parking issue on MSE do not reveal any information that may enable PPCs to identify you. They DO monitor the forum.
We don't need the following to help you.
Name, Address, PCN Number, Exact Date Of Incident, Date On Invoice, Reg Number, Vehicle Picture, The Time You Entered & Left Car Park, Or The Amount of Time You Overstayed.

Thank you Stroma! It's true... there really has been no loss to them or the retailers by me overstaying by less than half an hour...

if it's not successful, I will make an appeal to POPLA. What's the worst that could happen?

Worst case scenario would be you lose at POPLA and then PE get all excited and try a small claim against you. But we don't intend you to lose at POPLA - haven't seen one lose yet with wording guidance from this forum or pepipoo forum. You won't need POPLA though, I predict your appeal is easy.

We know that if your receipt was over £30 it's quite possible PE will cancel the fake PCN anyway. As you say you spend hundreds they would be mad to pursue this so word your first challenge in a polite, 'appeal from a genuine customer' sort of way enclosing copies of some receipts.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

    Thanks Coupon-mad...

Oh dear, my first challenge wasn't all that polite. It wasn't rude, but not polite either. Let's see what happens hey... I'll post an update once I get a response from my appeal...

    An update!

Parking eye wrote back and said they had cancelled the ticket.

Happy days! Thanks for all the advice on here!

To those who have received a "PCN" for Parking Eye and have spent in shops - it is worth writing a brief appeal online and enclosing scanned receipts.
