Trying to sort out a mess

Options
Hello:)

I have recently summoned the courage to face my credit files and what a mess they're in:( I'm hoping some of you might be able to help me make sense of this.

I've checked my Noddle score which is 1/5, unsurprisingly. I have 3 defaults on my file, all from a 3-4 year period where I was struggling with severe depression, attempted suicide twice and was hospitalised for mental health issues for 5 months. I can't even remember a lot of what happened in those years.Anyway.

Noddle is suggesting that in cases like this, it might be helpful to add a notice of correction to the file. I'm wondering how much notice to the lenders really pay to these?

I am so lost in all this:(

Where are you you today financially? In debt, in arrears, in a DMP.

    Thank you for replying:)

I am debt-free and not in any arrears anywhere (as all defaults show as settled). Have 2 current accounts and no credit cards (as I kept getting declined, I haven't applied in a good 18 months or so). No CCJs either.

For the last 2 years, I have been responsible with money and recovered from mental health illness so trying to get my affairs together.

An NOC may help, it may not. In general though it's intended for exactly this purpose and so cannot hurt to put on, at least.

That's a good start. Time is a healer when it comes to credit profiles.

What's your next primary objective financially?

Honestly, to be able to get a mortgage in a few years' time but I don't know if that will happen with my files being as they are. I'd just like to be accepted for a credit card for now - just to use it as a credit-building tool.
