Finding credit card account details for PPI claim!

Hi Guys!

I am looking for some advice on the best way to go about finding some old credit card account details in order to try and claim back missold PPI.

I have recently had 2 successful PPI claim wins on old personal loans, and now hope to do the same on 2 old credit card accounts.

My problem is that I held these cards around 10 years ago. I have absolutely no paper record of either card, and they are long since closed. One was a Barclaycard (I currently hold a current another active Barclaycard platinum!) one was a Capital One card. As a result I have no idea what the account numbers for the cards were. I had the same problem with my 2 loan accounts, but as they were paid by direct debit, my bank were able to provide me with the account number and sort code to which the direct debits were paid. However these credit card accounts were never paid by DD, only over the counter at a bank/post office etc.

Any advice as the best way to go about finding these account details? I imagine the providers will be reluctant to provide old account information if they think it is in order to claim PPI!

Many thanks, any advice gratefully received!

Reece

Barclaycard is going to be a problem. They only retain a running 6 years of statements.

Cap One will also be a problem as most of their complaints get rejected and the FOS doesnt overturn that many either (22% overturn rate in last period and 11% in the period before that). However, if you have a strong complaint reason that stacks up you will be ok.

Ask both providers would be easiest.

    Not all.

If you aks and they don't know, send a SAR and £10 to each institution and see what they send bacl. They should have at least the card numbers.

As dunston says, Capital One have a low overturn rate because most of their sales were either by post or over the phone. If you filled in a form for a Capital One card, expect to be refused, and expect the FOS to rule in their favour.
