car insurance - claims in last 3 years question

Hi all - quick question.

Looking around for car insurance and one site I am on asked:

"Have you made any claims in the past 3 years?"

Now thing is, i had a claim against me in april 2010.

So for the above question do I answer YES or NO?

I would think "NO" Because that wasn't in the past 3 years (if you count from now - June 2013, back 3 years) , its actually now OVER 3 years.

What do you think?

They mean in the years prior to the policy start date.

So if you have no claims since june 2010, and they only want to go back 3 years then your april 2010 claim is outside the history required.

So that confirms I answer "no" to the question..... right?

I can confirm I had no claims from june 2010 until now (june 2013).

Sorry to ask again - just wanted to be sure.

Well from the dates you have given. It's been over three calendar years and also three years of insurance periods. So from any possible interpretation of their question you should be able to answer 'NO' truthfully

Read the question exactly as its written, most ask about claims or incidents not just claims however I agree with the others that this would be calendar years as per the date of quote or inception but either would exclude your Apr 2010 claim
