Associations on your file

Anyone know how much an association on your file affects your credit score?

I recently got my credit report I noticed that my ex boyfriend from 5 years ago is still on it as is his flatmate who I have never had any financial links to ever. Now I am getting them both removed from my file.

Does having the flatmate as a financial link drag my credit score down give the fact that I know he is terrible with money and has bad credit?

Associates with bad credit can negatively affect your credit file, you only get associates where you've had a joint account, they remain until any joint account is closed or you are taken off it.

I have never had an account with my ex's flatmate he did take on my part of the mortgage via a transfer of ownership but I haven't had any financial dealings with him nothing has been joint between me and him.

Well it seems like the sooner I get him off the better.
