Hi
I've got this savings account: http://www.ybs.co.uk/savings/online/internetsaver/index.html?int_cmp=sav_online_lcol1_intSav_jun09
Not sure how many branches there are-my nearest is in Ilford and I've seen another in the Strand. Use for my wages, survey payments and other things. You get a Link cash card as well.Sealed Pot Challenge No 089-Finally got a signature.:rotfl::j0 -
You can't have looked very hard because there are loads of savings accounts which don't require a current account or internet access. Nationwide have the CashBuilder:
http://www.nationwide.co.uk/savings/instant_access/cashbuildercard/introduction.htm
Halifax have a Passbook Saver:

And that's only the two institutions you mentioned yourself. Almost every building society will offer something similar.0 -
Why the reluctance to link your savings account to a current account? It's been quite common since the year dot that a savings account is linked to a current account.
Why not look at a current account to start with, anyway, since quite a few are paying better interest than savings accounts? You can pay cash into a current account, and take cash out whenever you like.0 -

Nationwide don't require a current account. Halifax have the Everyday Saver AND Passbook Saver account that does what you ask.0 -

I went into Nationwide in Slough yesterday,I was told I will need a current account with them in order to open a savings account, with instant access,Halifax could only offer me an 'Online Saver' with NO cash link card, and wanted me to open a current account with them, which I do not want.I gave up,seems some banks just do not want your money.I only went by what the staff in those two banks told me,perhaps they were both keen to get me to open a current account so they get rewarded???Thanks to GetRealBabe on here,I now have one.:TKawasaki z750 Rider!0 -

You said you wanted to go into the branch, but GetRealBabe provided you a link to the internet saver. It comes with a cash card, but you cannot use that account in branch; you can only pay into it via the internet:
"Additional deposits (minimum amount £1) must be transfers, either from another bank or building society account, e.g. by standing order, or another account held with the Yorkshire. "

Banks don't need much money from savers these days since they get lots of it for free from the Treasury.
You said you wanted to walk into a Branch to deposit and withdraw money. How do you do this with a YBS account in Slough?
There is a good chance that you misunderstood what the Nationwide guys told you. I am guessing but they probably told you you can currently get 5% interest in one of their current accounts.0 -
I already have a bank account,do not need another one!!!I can send money to the YB account from that account, and take the money out via the cash link card, that is perfect for me.

Nope, both banks but especially Nationwide, told me I HAD to have a current account with them,or, switch my account to them in order to have an 'instant access' account with them,no misunderstanding at all.Kawasaki z750 Rider!0
